About the Halifax Wedding Party
The Halifax Wedding Party was created to elevate local small businesses by intentionally hiring and showcasing them as vendors for the event. At our last edition, over 30 small businesses gained meaningful exposure through this platform.
The event also serves as a cultural showcase — celebrating African wedding traditions while inspiring young people in the diaspora to embrace their heritage with pride. Many youths have never attended a traditional African wedding, and others rarely have access to these experiences.
To bridge this gap, we produce a fully immersive “wedding experience.”
It features all the elements of a traditional wedding — attire, ceremonies, music, food, décor, and cultural rituals — without legal proceedings.
For 2026, the experience will spotlight Igbo and Yoruba wedding traditions, offering guests an authentic and educational celebration that preserves culture, builds pride, and ensures these traditions thrive in the diaspora.
